Applicability*9

This AD applies to Airbus Model A300 B4-601, B4-603, B4-620, B4-605R, and B4-622R airplanes; certificated in any category; all serial numbers.

Compliance

You are responsible for having the actions required by this AD performed within the compliance times specified, unless the actions have already been done.

Required actions

Before the accumulation of 42,500 total flight cycles or within 2,000 flight cycles after the effective date of this AD, whichever occurs later: Do the actions specified in paragraph (g)(1) or (g)(2) of this AD, as applicable. (1) For Model A300 B4-622R airplanes: Reinforce the door frame shells of passenger doors 2 and 4 on both sides of the fuselage, in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of Airbus Service Bulletin A300-53-6170, dated May 16, 2011. (2) For Model A300 B4-601, B4-603, B4-620, and B4-605R airplanes: Reinforce the door frame shells of passenger doors 2 and 4 on both sides of the fuselage, using a method approved by either the Manager, International Branch, ANM-116, Transport Airplane Directorate, FAA; or the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) (or its delegated agent).

Unsafe condition

This AD was prompted by a report that the door frame shells of passenger doors 2 and 4 may not have sufficient structural strength to enable the airplane to operate safely. We are issuing this AD to prevent structural failure of the door frame shells, which could result in in-flight decompression of the airplane and consequent injury to passengers.

Affected ADs

None.
