Applicability*9

This AD applies to all The Boeing Company Model 777-200, -200LR, -300, -300ER, and 777F series airplanes, certificated in any category.

Compliance

Comply with this AD within the compliance times specified, unless already done.

Required actions

For airplanes identified in paragraphs (g)(1) and (2) of this AD: Except as specified by paragraph (h) of this AD, at the applicable times specified in the “Compliance” paragraph of Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin 777-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021, do all applicable actions identified in, and in accordance with, the Accomplishment Instructions of Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin 777-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021. (1) Airplanes identified in Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin 777-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021. (2) Airplanes not identified in Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin 777-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021, that have an original airworthiness certificate or original export certificate of airworthiness issued on or before the effective date of this AD, and on which a force limiter assembly P/N 253W1263-1 or P/N 253W1263-3 installed in production has been replaced with P/N 253W1263-1. Note 1 to paragraph (g): Guidance for accomplishing the actions required by this AD can be found in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 777-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021, which is referred to in Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin 77-27A0124 RB, dated October 27, 2021.

Unsafe condition

This AD was prompted by an evaluation by the design approval holder that the force limiter assemblies for the lateral control mechanism are not breaking out within the maximum design force requirements. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the force limiter assemblies not breaking out within the maximum design force requirements. The unsafe condition, combined with a lateral control system jam or restriction, could result in the loss of lateral control from the wheel and potentially affect continued safe flight and landing.

Affected ADs

None.
