Applicability*9

This AD applies to all The Boeing Company Model 787-8, 787-9, and 787-10 airplanes, certificated in any category.

Compliance

Comply with this AD within the compliance times specified, unless already done.

Required actions

For airplanes identified in Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin B787-81205-SB560010-00 RB, Issue 001, dated December 13, 2023: Except as specified in paragraph (h) of this AD, at the applicable times specified in the “Compliance” paragraph of Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin B787-81205-SB560010-00 RB, Issue 001, dated December 13, 2023, do all applicable actions identified in, and in accordance with, the Accomplishment Instructions of Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin B787-81205-SB560010-00 RB, Issue 001, dated December 13, 2023. Note 1 to paragraph (g): Guidance for accomplishing the actions required by this AD can be found in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin B787-81205-SB560010-00, Issue 001, dated December 13, 2023, which is referred to in Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin B787-81205-SB560010-00 RB, Issue 001, dated December 13, 2023.

Unsafe condition

This AD was prompted by a report that certain No.1 flight compartment windows may not meet type design requirements for withstanding a bird impact due to the elimination of a witness test specimen and process changes that affect main bondline strength. The FAA is issuing this AD to prevent a window from spalling in the event of a high-energy bird impact. The unsafe condition, if not addressed, could result in injuries to crew that may affect continued safe flight and landing.

Affected ADs

None.
