AD 2026-07-05 Airworthiness Directives; Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam S.P.A. Airplanes

This AD applies to Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam S.P.A. (Tecnam) Model P2010 airplanes, up to and including serial number 335, certificated in any category, that are equipped with a Lycoming IO-390 engine (MOD2010/078).
Compliance
Comply with this AD within the compliance times specified, unless already done.
Required actions
(1) Within 25 hours time-in-service (TIS) or 30 days, whichever occurs first after the effective date of this AD, and thereafter, at intervals not to exceed 200 hours TIS, perform a detailed borescope inspection (BSI) of the exhaust muffler flame tube for cracks, fractures, or evidence of crack or fracture initiation, in accordance with Appendix A of the Accomplishment Instructions in TECNAM Service Bulletin (SB) 937-CS-Ed. 2, Rev. 1, dated February 26, 2026 (TECNAM SB 937-CS-Ed. 2, Rev. 1). (2) If any crack, fracture, or evidence of crack or fracture initiation is detected during any BSI required by paragraph (g)(1) of this AD, before further flight, repair using a method approved by the Manager, International Validation Branch, FAA; European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA); or Tecnam's EASA Design Organization Approval (DOA). If approved by the DOA, the approval must include the DOA-authorized signature.
Unsafe condition
This AD was prompted by a report of unrecoverable loss of engine power. The FAA is issuing this AD to detect and address blockage of the exhaust system due to potential failure of the exhaust muffler flame tube. The unsafe condition, if not addressed, could result in loss of engine power and loss of control of the airplane.
