AD 98-14-06 Airworthiness Directives; British Aerospace BAe Model ATP Airplanes
Models named: ATP. Read the applicability below — it usually turns on serial or part numbers too.
Applicability*9
BAe Model ATP airplanes, as listed in British Aerospace Alert Service Bulletin ATP-32-85, Revision 1, dated March 20, 1998; certificated in any category. Note 1: This AD applies to each airplane identified in the preceding applicability provision, regardless of whether it has been modified, altered, or repaired in the area subject to the requirements of this AD. For airplanes that have been modified, altered, or repaired so that the performance of the requirements of this AD is affected, the owner/operator must request approval for an alternative method of compliance in accordance with paragraph (c) of this AD. The request should include an assessment of the effect of the modification, alteration, or repair on the unsafe condition addressed by this AD; and, if the unsafe condition has not been eliminated, the request should include specific proposed actions to address it.
Compliance
Required as indicated, unless accomplished previously. To prevent failure of the spring strut assembly of the forward door of the main landing gear (MLG), which could result in the inability to extend the MLG, accomplish the following: (a) Within 600 flight hours after the effective date of this AD, perform a visual inspection for discrepancies of the fork end of the spring strut assembly of the forward door of the MLG, on the left and right sides of the airplane; in accordance with British Aerospace Alert Service Bulletin ATP-32-85, Revision 1, dated March 20, 1998. (1) If no discrepancy is detected, repeat the visual inspection thereafter at intervals not to exceed 1,500 flight hours until the actions specified by paragraph (b) of this AD are accomplished. (2) If any discrepancy is detected, prior to further flight, replace the existing spring strut assembly with a new or serviceable part, in accordance with the alert service bulletin. Repeat the visual inspection thereafter at intervals not to exceed 1,500 flight hours until the actions specified by paragraph (b) of this AD are accomplished. (b) Within 18 months after the effective date of this AD, replace the spring strut assembly of the forward door of the MLG with an improved spring strut assembly, on the left and right sides of the airplane; in accordance with British Aerospace Service Bulletin ATP-32-87, dated January 29, 1998. This replacement constitutes terminating action for the requirements of this AD. (c) An alternative method of compliance or adjustment of the compliance time that provides an acceptable level of safety may be used if approved by the Manager, International Branch, ANM-116, FAA, Transport Airplane Directorate. Operators shall submit their request through an appropriate FAA Principal Maintenance Inspector, who may add comments and then send it to the Manager, International Branch, ANM-116. Note 2: Information concerning the existence of approved alternative methods of compliance with this AD, if any, may be obtained from the International Branch, ANM-116. (d) Special flight permits may be issued in accordance with sections 21.197 and 21.199 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR 21.197 and 21.199) to operate the airplane to a location where the requirements of this AD can be accomplished. (e) The replacement shall be done in accordance with British Aerospace Service Bulletin ATP-32-87, dated January 29, 1998. The inspection shall be done in accordance with British Aerospace Alert Service Bulletin ATP-32-85, Revision 1, dated March 20, 1998, which contains the following effective pages: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Revision level Date shown on Page No. shown on page shown on page page ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1-3, 6, 7, 10..................... 1................ You just looked this one up by hand
TrackAD holds all 12,278 of them and matches them against the aircraft you actually look after — airframe, engine, propeller and appliances in one pass — then works out what falls due and when.
- Bring your existing list in from a spreadsheet Paste the rows straight out of Excel. Headers like C/W Date and N/A are read for you.
- A copy that works when this does not One file. No internet, no login, no this software running. For the morning something has to be produced and the computer is not cooperating.
- $5 a month, or $50 a year Up to 50 aircraft on either.
